The public health activities of Charutar Arogya Mandal are handled by the Extension Programmes Department at present. A brief description of these activities is given below :
Shree Krishna Hospital is a 800 bedded, state of the art tertiary level hospital providing quality health care services to the community at an affordable cost. However, major part of the diseases and illnesses do not require referral to a hospital and can be treated by trained health workers in the community (primary level) or medical officers working at peripheral health centres located near the community. Moreover, the Founder Chairman of the Charutar Arogya Mandal had a vision to ensure that the health care services provided by the Mandal should not remain confined to the hospital only, but are also extended to the community as well. Taking into consideration these two points, the Extension Programmes Department was established by the Mandal with the purpose of extending need based preventive, promotive and curative health services to the community at large. The department plans to operate on the principle of providing health services through a three tier system consisting of Primary, Secondary and Tertiary levels.
